Kafka Meetup Japanの第8回を開催いたします！ 今回はConfluentのRobin Moffattさんをお招きしまして、発表していただきます（発表は英語です)

Title: From Zero to Hero with Kafka Connect

Abstract: Integrating Apache Kafka with other systems in a reliable and scalable way is often a key part of a streaming platform. Fortunately, Apache Kafka includes the Connect API that enables streaming integration both in and out of Kafka. Like any technology, understanding its architecture and deployment patterns is key to successful use, as is knowing where to go looking when things aren’t working.

This talk will discuss the key design concepts within Kafka Connect and the pros and cons of standalone vs distributed deployment modes. We’ll do a live demo of building pipelines with Kafka Connect for streaming data in from databases, and out to targets including Elasticsearch. With some gremlins along the way, we’ll go hands-on in methodically diagnosing and resolving common issues encountered with Kafka Connect. The talk will finish off by discussing more advanced topics including Single Message Transforms, and deployment of Kafka Connect in containers.

Robin's bio: Robin is a Senior Developer Advocate at Confluent, the company founded by the original creators of Apache Kafka, as well as an Oracle ACE Director (Alumnus). He has been speaking at conferences since 2009 including QCon, Devoxx, Strata, Kafka Summit, and Øredev. You can find his talks online, subscribe to his YouTube channel, and read his blog. Outside of work, Robin enjoys running, drinking good beer, and eating fried breakfasts—although generally not at the same time.

This Event Will Be Held Online

• Given the growing concern and impact of COVID-19, we will hold the 8th Kafka Meetup Japan online instead of our former venues like Yahoo Japan Corporation office and "LODGE". Attendees will watch online live stream in this event. Please register if you would like to attend. We will send a URL for the live stream to the attendees’ e-mail addresses registered in connpass, and display the URL in a connpass webpage which will only be accessible to the attendees. Please prepare viewing environment for the stream including a device (PC, smartphone) and an Internet connection by yourself.
• We are also accepting applications for 15 min presentation (1 entry) & 5 min Lightening Talk (2 entries). If you wish to apply, please choose the appropriate "Attendee Type" when registering for the meetup.
